Fibre Mood Elodie with Cousette Polkadot Fabric

Well, where to start…it has been a while since I published a blog so close to my last one but here goes! I miss it a little and love talking to you all! I will briefly go through this dress fabric and pattern that I have recently fallen in love with! I was gifted the fabric from Cousette and you can purchase some here. I think the dress was a perfect companion for my love of polkadots and this perfectly colored fabric! I used the Fibre Mood Elodie Dress that you can see here.

Let’s start with the fabric. I cannot even describe to you how much I love this fabric. I have been sewing with viscose for a very long time and I have to say this is one of my favorites! The only other viscose fabric that comes close to this quality is Art Gallery Fabrics. I felt that it had a beautiful weight to it. Very very lovely drape. Just buttery soft!!

It also felt light and breathable at the same time. I think that it was very easy to sew and didn’t have any problems pressing the fabric. Surprisingly, it also was a bit wrinkle resistant! The fibers also didn’t pull or run when stitching. It maintained its integrity the whole time. It really performed well and of course we can’t ignore the fact that it is polkadots!!! My all time favorite! I have to be careful with myself because I could probably wear polkadots every single day! HA! If only, right!?

I love the color as well. It is a perfect/brown/orange/mauve/rose color. I know, I know, that is a lot of colors. But it really feels like a chameleon and that it can change depending on what you pair with it. You know how certain colors can bring out or enhance other colors!? I truly believe that, so I feel like it could almost be paired with any shoe or hat. I wore dark green lace-up boots with it and I absolutely love the result!

Now, to speak on the pattern a bit. I think the pattern went very smoothly. I do find that Fibre Mood patterns fight me a bit tight in the bust area ( even when i go by my measurements) which is strange because I normally require a small bust adjustment, so keep that in mind. I think I could have used a slightly bigger size or more room in that area.

I think that the sleeves are a bit shorter than you would expect but I like that style very much and think it allows you to wear a turtleneck underneath and look super stylish. I have done this another time and it allowed the long sleeves of the turtleneck to shine under my dress cuff. I also think that the dress itself was more of a midi length on me. I loved this, but if you are looking for a longer length, then I would add a few inches to the main skirt.

I also think that the cuff is a bit small where it buttons. It doesn’t restrict me at all but it might be mindful to put it a bit lower if your wrists are not very small. Mine are very tiny and I felt it strange that I was feeling restricted. You might want to put the loop a bit further down the arm towards the wrist or more in the middle of the cuff versus the base of the cuff to allow the connection to be looser and have more space if that makes sense!

Overall, I really love the result so so much and I cannot wait to wear it in so many ways! I think it would look fabulous with a large oversized sweater over it. Also with a turtleneck underneath as we previously discussed!! I think tall or short boots would look lovely and of course a matching beret would look amazing! Have fun with it and I hope you check out this lovely fabric! It really is just beautiful!
